His Glory

The snow crunches beneath my feet,
As I walk down the street.
My apology I must give,
I only hope He can forgive.
This was all my fault,
With my words I launched an assault.
On this snowy day,
For His forgiveness I pray.
He gave me this beautiful scene,
Yet I was so mean.
I drop to my knees in the snow,
As my apology begins to flow.
For His mercy I ask,
So that in His glory I may bask.

*** I used the NaPoWriMo prompt for today. For this prompt, we were to write an ekphrastic poem. For this day, it was to be a poem about a picture. I somewhat managed to do this using the above photo. This was also my first ever poem with a religious theme. It was not meant to go in that direction; it just ended up in that direction. ***

Spring Sunrise

The trees sway in the breeze.
The grass glistens with dew.
The flowers are in full bloom.
The beauty brings me to my knees.
The sunrise colors the sky with a beautiful hue.
I suddenly feel no gloom.

The beauty of spring.
I am glad to share this with you.
On this day, nothing is as I assume.
A happiness is all I bring.

Spring abloom…

*** I used today's NaPoWriMo prompt. The prompt involved writing a curtal sonnet. The curtal sonnet is shorter than the normal, fourteen line sonnet. Instead it has a first stanza of six lines, followed by a second stanza of four, and then closes with a half-line. I used the rhyming pattern of abcabc dbcd c. ***

I Dreamed A Dream

I dreamed a dream,
That one day you would be mine.
I dreamed a dream,
That one day you would say you love me.
I dreamed a dream,
That one day you would wrap your arms around me.
I dreamed a dream,
That one day I would kiss your sweet face.
I dreamed a dream,
That one day you would never leave me.
I dreamed a dream,
That one day we would be happy.
I dreamed a dream,
That one day every dream would be mine.

*** I used today's prompt from NaPoWriMo. Today's prompt involved using an anaphora. An anaphora is a literary term for the practice of repeating certain words or phrases at the beginning of multiple clauses or, in the case of a poem, multiple lines. In this poem, I repeated the line "I dreamed a dream" as well as the clause "that one day". ***
