I started writing poetry when I was a teenager. It was a release, of sorts, for me. By the time I graduated high school, I had written well over 500 poems (all are lost now since my daughter destroyed my notebooks when she was a toddler). I remember showing one of my poems to my senior English teacher who told me she loved it. That one comment made me smile ear to ear during a time in my life when everything seemed hopeless.
I was excited to learn about National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo). I'm still kind of nervous about it being the same month as Camp NaNoWriMo, but I am going to give it a try.
As soon as I have enough poems and can categorize them in a good manner, I will probably try and publish a book of poems.
